Event Driven Data Recovery and Intelligence
A patented system architecture for interfacing with recording sources, independent data preservation and event triggered wireless offloading, with optional deployable recovery embodiments.
What This Technology Does
An independent data preservation architecture with options for event based wireless access and physical recovery.
The core idea is simple: Instead of relying solely on a single flight recorder that must be physically found and retrieved, this system creates an independent copy of critical data and provides multiple ways to access it.
The patented architecture may interface with existing recorders and vehicle sensors and independently store selected data. The specification also describes external and internal image recording devices. Any implementation must address privacy, aircraft integration, data protection and certification requirements.
When predefined event criteria are met, a suitable implementation may transmit stored data over an available wireless link. Timing, completeness and reliability depend on the platform, system integration and communications conditions.
Disclosed embodiments include ejectable modules, flotation, self righting, location support and independent power. Each capability requires engineering, testing and applicable operational approval.

Engineering maturity
Patented concepts are not the same as certified performance
Independent memory, trigger logic, wireless offloading and deployable embodiments are disclosed in the patent family. Aircraft specific implementation, equipment qualification, antenna and data link performance, crash survivability and certification require additional design and testing. Computer aided visual inspection is a potential integration pathway, not a claim of operational AI certification.
Two complementary recovery pathways
Illustrative system architecture. Exact configurations are platform dependent.
Remote data pathway
Onboard data sources → independent memory → predefined event criteria → wireless transmission → authorised ground or remote access.
Optional physical recovery pathway
A disclosed ejectable module may support separation, descent slowing, flotation, self righting, location and independent power after qualifying events.
Image and video capture, including computer assisted inspection of aircraft surfaces, is a potential part of the disclosed architecture. AI analytics implementations require additional engineering and assessment against the actual granted claims.
Transmission Options
Wireless interfaces may be selected for platform requirements, network availability and regulatory approval.
Satellite Link
Potential coverage through suitable satellite services
Cellular Network
Cellular connectivity where coverage and hardware permit
Local Wireless
Short-range data transfer options
Survivability Features
The patent describes optional recovery features intended to improve survivability. Actual performance requires testing and qualification.
Flotation
Self-deploying flotation system for water landings
Self-Righting
Automatic orientation for signal transmission
Descent Control
Controlled descent rate for safe recovery
Location Beacon
ELT/PLB integration for rapid location

The patent describes options for improving survivability and location; endurance and environmental resistance require testing and qualification.
Why This Approach is Different
This technology addresses fundamental limitations of current flight data recording systems.
Independent Storage
A separate storage pathway is described to improve data preservation. Redundancy depends on the final system design.
Intelligent Activation
Predefined criteria can initiate offloading actions when qualifying parameter conditions are met.
Remote Transmission
Wireless data offload may improve time to access when connectivity and integration permit.
Deployable Recovery
Optional ejectable embodiments aim to separate stored data from the host vehicle. Impact, fire and immersion performance requires qualification.
